Winston Village Hall has been awarded Hallmark 3 which is the highest  award achievable under the nationally recognised Hallmark quality Standard scheme for village halls. This follows on from the Hallmark 1 and 2 awards which the hall achieved in late 2011 and spring 2012. Winston is the first village hall in Teesdale to be awarded the level 3 standard.

Barbara Hind of Durham Community Action (DCA) presented the award to the Trustees of the Winston Village Hall on 20 January 2014 congratulating the committee on achieving a standard over and above that which was required. (DCA supports and administers the Hallmark scheme in Co Durham).

Commenting on the award Chris Walshaw, the Chair of the Trustees, said ‘this is a great honour to receive this award and it reflects on the  hard work the Trustees have put in to improving the Management of the hall and the improved facilities it provides for the local community’. He went on to add ‘that the Trustees had found the Hallmark scheme invaluable in helping the committee improve its management, and practices and encouraged all halls in Teesdale to participate in the scheme’.  He also thanked the staff of DCA who had supported them in the process.

Winston Village Hall welcomes new users of the hall from the local community for either organised activities or social events.
